#LockdownLife | Working from Home - The Journals | Donna Crain Surrey

It’s Monday and I’m back on the blog with my next instalment of the ‘Working from Home - The Journals’. I’m filling your day with ALL the sparkle as I’m chatting to Donna Crain Surrey - this super talented woman creates luxury bridal accessories for modern brides and her work really is exquisite. Having worked with Donna over the last year or so on her IG, I’ve been lucky enough to see the hard work that goes into designing each and every piece - it’s impossible not to fall in love with her gorgeous accessories! Let me hand you straight over to Donna so you can hear about her time during lockdown…

1 So, let’s talk about life in lockdown. What time do you get up? What’s your morning routine? Has this changed since working from home / being in lockdown?

I’ve never really been what you a call a morning person, preferring to work late into the night but I usually get up around 8.30 and sit down at my computer with a cup of tea and check my messages/emails before doing anything else.

2 How do you remain motivated while working from home?

I have been used to working from home for the past 15 years so nothing has really changed for me apart from the fact that friends cannot just pop in for a coffee. I like to break up my day such as taking my dog for a long walk.

3 Do you listen to any podcasts while working from home?

No, I prefer to have quiet around me whilst I am working. Too much noise can be a distraction.

4 Lockdown has impacted businesses all over the world. How can people support you? E.g. #ShopSmallBusiness, sharing a post on FB, commenting on an Instagram post etc.

Buying direct from a small business is the best way to support them. If buyers are happy with their purchase, share it on social media – nothing puts a smile on our face more than a lovely review.

5 Tell me one local business that you’ve decided to support during lockdown. It could be your local coffee shop, someone who hand-makes masks etc.

There isn't one particular business, but I do tend to shop locally where possible such as local independent stores.  If I need a gift, I tend to seek out independent sellers.

6 Tell me your favourite isolation cocktail / snack / treat?

Chocolate (sadly).

7 What’s your go-to ‘pick me up’ during lockdown life / working from home?

A brisk walk in the evening on my own or a long gossip with my sister on the phone.

8 How are you keeping in touch with friends and family?

I loathe face-time and zoom so I tend to keep in touch via phone or text messages.

9 Name one lockdown pet peeve

People who do not stick to the rules and don't wear masks.

10 Name one lockdown love

I have been so grateful to have my son move back home temporarily.

11 What do you have in store for your business? What’s got you feeling inspired?

To restart face to face appointments again, restrictions permitted.

12 What’s one thing you want to do after lockdown restrictions are lifted?

To restart face to face appointments again, restrictions permitted.

13 What has been your favourite Netflix series to binge on during lockdown?

Watching Breaking Bad, again!

14 Are there any books on your shelf you’d recommend reading during lockdown?

I am one of those readers who picks up a book and finds it hard to put it down so I don't tend to read much unless I am on holiday.

15 What will you take from lockdown? Is there anything you’re grateful for or that you’ll do differently going forward?

Taking an extra few minutes to say hello to our local essential workers, it really does make all the difference.

16 Describe lockdown for you in three words. (E.g. life-changing, emotional, challenging).

Emotional, lonely, worrying.
