#LockdownLife | Working from Home - The Journals | Raspberry Bespoke Events

Woo, it’s finally Friday! And what better way to end the working week with another instalment from my ‘Working from Home - The Journals’ series. I’m super excited to welcome the lovely Jen of Raspberry Bespoke Events to the blog today. I’ve been lucky enough to work with Jen over the last year on her EPIC rebrand - which we are soooo excited to share with you, so keep your eyes peeled.

Jen is the Founder of Raspberry Bepsoke Events, a boutique luxury wedding planning company offering unforgettable experiences and beautifully designed events. She’s vivacious, fun and just a brilliant member of the wedding industry so I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading her lockdown story…

1 So, let’s talk about life in lockdown. What time do you get up? What’s your morning routine? Has this changed since working from home / being in lockdown?

My day starts relatively early, 07:00 a.m most days with a strong cup of tea and a flurry of chatter as the children ready themselves for the school day. Slightly different and more relaxed than a pre covid life – not having to rush out of the house by 7:45 every morning has been a bonus – it also means I can log onto my computer and check all emails before 09:00 a,m event arrives.

2 How do you remain motivated while working from home?

It’s important to take regular breaks, be kind to yourself.  There will be days when you are just not feeling it and other days that are super productive.  So long as all work is being completed I feel it’s important to acknowledge when you need to step away, go for a walk or simply chill with Netlfix.  You will be more productive in the end if you just listen to all you need.

3 Do you listen to any podcasts while working from home?

I love listening to Mel Robbins and generally found browsing inspiring Ted talks.

4 Lockdown has impacted businesses all over the world. How can people support you? E.g. #ShopSmallBusiness, sharing a post on FB, commenting on an Instagram post etc.

It is imperative at this time that we support each other. Reaching out for that coffee zoom call, dropping a quick WhatsApp message – it all adds up when you are in lockdown.  It can feel very lonely being home so I always check in with friends – especially those that have gone quite or are not posting on Instagram like they were etc – it’s the small changes you need to be aware of.

It is imperative at this time that we support each other...

5 Tell me one local business that you’ve decided to support during lockdown. It could be your local coffee shop, someone who hand-makes masks etc.

During lockdown I have supported many local businesses from florists to food suppliers to gourmet cake makers.  The fabulous Gourmandises1 has been a godsend!! Delivering the most delicious patisserie not only for my birthday last year but also Christmas goodies in between!

6 Tell me your favourite isolation cocktail / snack / treat?

Don’t laugh but I have rekindled my love for a 70”s Snowball!!! I only rediscovered it recently and I have to say….I haven’t looked back!

7 What’s your go-to ‘pick me up’ during lockdown life / working from home?

I love a good beauty product.  Recently I have taken to using the amazing aromatherapy oils by Espa – they have an amazing revitalising oil – gorgeous!

8 How are you keeping in touch with friends and family?

In the early days of lockdown we had zoom frenzies when it felt my whole life was on a screen. Now we plan dedicated evenings when we build up our news and we look forward to sharing stories of our lockdown week (which usually means all we have eaten!)

9 Name one lockdown pet peeve

That we are in limbo – being out of control of a situation is not what a planner is used to – we usually have plan A, B and C in place for any eventuality lockdown has truly been testing.

10 Name one lockdown love

The slower pace of life has certainly been a bonus – I have loved that we have talked and walked together more as a family – it’s one of the positive sides of lockdown that we intend to maintain

11 What do you have in store for your business? What’s got you feeling inspired?

We have a total rebrand and a new website due to be released.  Lockdown has focussed our minds and has set the brand on a path we are totally excited to be taking.

12 What’s one thing you want to do after lockdown restrictions are lifted?

I cannot wait to see my parents.  It’s been over a year and as soon as we are able to have so much to celebrate and catch up on – there have been some huge milestone we have missed over the last year – we definitely won’t be letting that slide.

13 What has been your favourite Netflix series to binge on during lockdown?

Most definitely Bridgerton – my love of Country houses and glamorous parties has definitely been re-enforced watching the series.

14 Are there any books on your shelf you’d recommend reading during lockdown?

I’m a lot of a fidget so don’t really have time for books – I’m more likely to be listening to a podcast whilst multi-tasking.

15 What will you take from lockdown? Is there anything you’re grateful for or that you’ll do differently going forward?

Going forward I will be installing a more sustainable work life balance – I have adored spending time with my family.

16 Describe lockdown for you in three words. (E.g. life-changing, emotional, challenging).

 Thought provoking, metamorphic, peaceful.
